Num Ineq App (fx-CG100 only)

You can use the Num Ineq (Numeric Inequality) app to solve a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th degree inequality.

Operation Flow

Example:  To solve x2+2x-340

  1. h > Num Ineq

  2. This displays the Degree tab.

  3. On the the Degree tab, select [a2X2‎+‎a1X‎+‎a0], and then press O.

  4. This displays the Type tab.

  5. On the Type tab, select the inequality symbol type and orientation (>, <, ≥, ≤).

  6. Here we want to solve x2+2x-340, select [a2X2‎+‎a1X‎+‎a0‎≥‎0] and then press O.

  7. On the Editor tab that appears, input coefficient values.

  8. 1E2Es-(M)3e4E

  9. Press > or E.

  10. This will display the solution on the Result tab. Details about the values in the cell at the current cursor location are shown in the lower-right corner of the window.*

When S > [‎  π‎ Result] is turned on, display is in   and π form when possible (decimal form when not possible).
When S > [‎  π‎ Result] is turned off, display is in decimal form only.

Note

“No Solution” appears on the Result tab when no solution exists for an inequality (such as x2 < 0).

“All Real Values of X ” appears on the Result tab when the solution of an inequality is all numbers (such as x2 ≥ 0).

S key operation is ignored on the Result tab. Operate the S key on the Editor tab.
