You wear the watch next to your skin, just like clothing. To ensure that the watch remains usable for a long time, keep it clean. Frequently wipe the case and band with a soft cloth to remove dirt, sweat, water and other foreign matter.
Should sea water or mud ever get onto the watch, rinse it off with clean fresh water.
In the case of a resin band, wash with water and then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Note that sometimes a smudge like pattern may appear on the surface of a resin band. This will not have any effect on your skin or clothing. Wipe with a cloth to remove the smudge pattern.
Not operating buttons for long periods can lead to operation problems. Periodically press buttons to maintain proper operation.
Use a clean, dry cotton swab or cloth to remove any dirt, foreign matter or water from the contacts of the charger terminals of the watch and charger cable.
Neglecting to perform regular maintenance tasks can lead to the problems described below.
Rust
Though the metal used for the watch is rust-resistant, rust can still form. Dirt on the watch can cut the metal off from oxygen, making it impossible to maintain the oxidization layer of the metal surface and result in the formation of rust.
Rust can cause sharp areas on metal components, and can cause band pins to fly out of position or to fall out. If you ever notice any abnormality, stop using the watch and contact your original retailer or an authorized CASIO service center for (paid for) repair.
Even if the surface of the metal appears clean, sweat and rust in crevasses can soil the sleeves of clothing, cause skin rash, make charging impossible, and otherwise interfere with watch performance.
Deterioration
Leaving sweat or water on a resin band or storing a resin band in an area subject to high moisture can lead to premature deterioration, cuts, and breaks.
Skin Rash
Individuals with sensitive skin or in poor physical condition may experience skin rash, and should frequently clean the watch and band. Should you ever experience skin rash, take the band off of your wrist and contact a skin care professional.
