Distance traveled calculations are performed using location information, so there may be some difference between the calculated distance and the actual distance traveled. This tends to happen especially when traveling on roads with a lot of curves. 

Communication timing may cause the displayed value to be one that is actually later (by several tens of seconds) that the value currently being measured.
