Receiving Leap Second Information

Leap Seconds

A leap second is a second that is added to adjust for differences between standard time kept by extremely accurate cesium atomic clocks and Universal Time based on the movement (rotation and revolution) of the Earth.

A GPS signal receive operation can take as long as 13 minutes.

Leap Second Information Receive Indication

The second hand will move to T+P or TIME.

A signal received on or around June 1 or December 1 each year also includes leap second information.

  • ● Once leap second information is successfully received, the watch will not make any attempt to receive it again until the next leap second information is sent (the following June 1 or December 1).
  • ● If the watch is unable to receive a signal, the watch may not indicate the current time correctly.

Leap second information will also be received when a GPS signal receive operation is performed under the conditions described below.

  • ● After a GPS signal receive operation has not been performed for a long time.
  • ● If the previous leap second receive operation failed.
