Q1
What can I do with Interval Snapshot?
A1
You can use Interval Snapshot to shoot snapshots and movies automatically at a specified interval.
With firmware version 2.0 or higher, you can use the Sport Mode to configure settings a wider variety of shooting intervals.
 •  When using this function, shooting with a tripod is recommended.
To attach to a commercially available tripod, use the provided tripod nut to attach the hinge unit to it.
 •  To prevent loss of power while shooting, use a fully charged battery.
 •  Make sure the memory card you are using has sufficient unused space before using this function.

To start an Interval Snapshot operation
1. On the REC mode main screen, touch the “Home icon” .
2. On the home screen, touch the “Interval Snapshot icon”.
3. If you want to change camera settings for shooting, touch the "Interval Setting icon".
4. Touch an item and then change its setting.

Mode Sports:
Enters a mode that configures the camera for shooting sports or other high-activity events. This mode shoots 3M (2048x1536) size snapshots, and suppresses the recorded image distortion that can occur when shooting action scenes with a CMOS imaging element.
Normal:
Enters a more for shooting normal images.
Interval Specifies the shooting interval.
Shooting Style Snapshot + Movie:
Shoots five snapshots followed by a five-second movie.
Movie Only:
Shoots a five-second movie. Audio is also recorded with this setting.
Snapshot Only: Shoots a snapshot.
• When “5 sec” is selected for the “Interval” setting, the movie recording time is two seconds.

5. Touch the “Back icon”.
6. Touch “Start”.
This starts the Interval Snapshot operation.
    • Starting an Interval Snapshot operation causes the camera and controller to enter a sleep state and standby or recording of the images. This will be indicated by the camera’s operation lamp flashing green.
Note that the camera will not enter the sleep state if “5 sec” is selected for the “Interval” setting.
    • To recover from the sleep state, press any controller button. Next, touching “i” on the monitor screen will display the number of recorded images. Though the maximum displayed image count is 9999 images, an Interval Snapshot operation can shoot more than 9999 images as long as the camera is supplied with power using the supplied USB-AC adaptor, etc.

NOTE
 • Interval Snapshot images are shot using Auto Focus.
 • Camera image stabilization is applied during movie recording by an Interval Snapshot operation.
Note, however, that image stabilization does not prevent image blur due to subject movement.
 • The current shooting setup, including zoom, cannot be changed while an Interval Snapshot operation is in progress. A snapshot can be recorded with camera operations only, and not by operating the controller.
 • If the camera battery goes dead during an Interval Snapshot operation, the operation will terminate.
The controller battery going dead does not affect an ongoing Interval Snapshot operation.
After shooting is complete, perform the steps below.
   1. On the controller, press any button to display the screen.
   2. Touch “i”.
   3. Touch “Exit”.
 • If you are performing manual camera operations or if the camera is out of the sleep state when the Interval Snapshot operation reaches a shooting interval, Interval Snapshot recording for that interval will be skipped.
 • Pressing the controller’s [Power] while the camera is out of the sleep state will return to the sleep state and restart the Interval Snapshot operation.
 • If pressing any controller button does not stop interval recording, hold down the camera's power button.
 • For interval shooting over a long period, you can attach the USB adaptor to the camera to supply power.

To shoot images manually during an Interval Snapshot operation
You can shoot snapshots and movies manually even while an Interval Snapshot operation is in progress.
