- A23
-
The camera is equipped with various types of zoom: optical zoom, HD Zoom, Single SR Zoom, Multi SR Zoom, and digital zoom.
• Optical Zoom : Changes the lens focal distance.
The range for this type of zoom is from the left edge of the zoom bar up to the
up mark.
• HD Zoom : Allows greater zoom capabilities by cutting out a portion of the original image and
enlarging it.
The range for this type of zoom is from the zoom bar up mark up to the red line.
• Single SR Zoom : Single SR Zoom expands the zoom ratio in a way that minimizes image deterioration.
The range for this type of zoom is from the zoom bar up mark up to the red line.
• Multi SR Zoom : Shoots a burst of High Speed CS images, which are then combined into a final
image to suppress image quality deterioration across a range that is greater than
Single SR Zoom.
The range for this type of zoom is from the zoom bar up mark up to the red line.
• Digital Zoom : Digitally processes the center of the image to enlarge it.
Remember that digital zoom causes deterioration of image quality.
Digital zoom is enabled (on) under initial factory default settings.
The range for this type of zoom is from the red line of the zoom bar up to
its right edge.
When the image size is 16M, zooming up to 8X optical zoom (12X in combination with Single SR Zoom, up to 16X in combination with Multi SR Zoom) is supported. When recording at VGA size, maximum zoom is 127.5X for optical zoom in combination with Multi SR Zoom and digital zoom.
NOTE
The value shown by the zoom bar is the maximum zoom factor for optical zoom (including HD zoom).
In the case of Single SR Zoom and Multi SR Zoom, the value indicates the maximum zoom factor for
the type of zoom being used. Values do not include digital zoom factors.
To enable Single SR Zoom, press the [MENU] button in the Auto mode and then select "Single" for the "Zoom (SR)" setting.
If you want to Shoot with Multi SR Zoom, which produces images of even better texture, press the [BS] button and then select the BEST SHOT "3 Multi SR Zoom" scene.
Optical zoom, HD Zoom, and digital zoom can be used regardless of the current Single SR Zoom or Multi SR Zoom setting.
