You can use the procedure below to shoot a self-portrait by operating the camera from a slightly remote location.

Bluetooth wireless technology connection

You can start “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” by performing the simple steps below. If there is a Bluetooth wireless technology connection between the camera and smartphone, Bluetooth connection icon on the EXILIM Connect top screen will be pink.
1. Turn off the camera.
2. On the smartphone, start up the EXILIM Connect app.
    • Check to make sure that Bluetooth connection icon on the top screen is pink.
3. On the smartphone, tap “Remote Capture”.
   This will start up the camera in its wireless mode, ready to record images under remote control of the smartphone.
4. Compose the image on the smartphone’s screen as you shoot.
    • After you are finished with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)”, return to the app’s top screen.

No Bluetooth Wireless Technology Connection
Perform the procedure below to start “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)”.
1. On the camera, Press [MENU]. “REC MENU tab” or “PLAY MENU tab” Wireless Mode.
   This will display the wireless mode screen.
2. On the camera, use the <up>, <down>, <left>, and <right> keys to select “Shoot with phone” and then press [SET].
3. On the camera, use the <up> and <down> keys to select “Remote Start” and then press [SET].
    • If there is a wireless LAN connection between the smartphone and camera, advance to step 5 of this procedure.
4. For the smartphone’s Wi-Fi settings, select the SSID displayed on the camera and establish a wireless LAN connection between the camera and smartphone.
5. On the smartphone, start up the EXILIM Connect app.
6. Compose the image on the smartphone’s screen as you shoot.
    • About 60 seconds after “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” starts, the camera’s monitor screen will go blank and
      its back lamp will light green.
    • After you are finished with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)”, return to the app’s top screen.

NOTE
 • To use this function, you need to install the EXILIM Connect app on your smartphone.
 • The Movie Quality is always STD (640x480) when shooting with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)”.
 • “Tracking” cannot be selected for the AF area setting while shooting with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)”.
   If “Tracking” is selected in another mode, selecting “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” will cause the AF area setting to change to “Spot”.
 • The camera’s Motion Shutter cannot be used while shooting with this function.
 • When the focus mode setting is “AF” (Auto Focus) or “Macro”, continuous AF is enabled during “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” and focus is performed in the center of image.
 • Images recorded with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” cannot be sent using Auto Send.
 • With some smartphones, you may not be able to send images from the camera if images were recorded with “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” without use of position information enabled.
 • You can specify the size of the image sent to the smartphone using "Resize before send".

3M Images are converted to 3M size before being sent.
• If an original image is 3M size or smaller, it is sent without resizing.
• If an original image size is 3:2 or 16:9, its aspect ratio becomes 4:3.
Original (Off) Images are sent in the pixels size they were originally recorded.
 

EXILIM Connect supports the “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” operations listed below.
 • You can select from among the recording modes below.
   Premium Auto Pro,  Proguram Auto, Continuous Shutter (CS)
 • Use of self-timer is supported. Use of Triple Self-timer is not supported for movie and CS image shooting.
 • You can change the flash setting when shooting snapshots.
   The flash cannot be used for movie and CS image shooting.
 • Checking the shooting range
 • Changing the zoom factor
 • Shooting with High Speed CS or Prerecord CS. However, note that AF-CS shooting is not supported.
 • Switching between snapshot and movie shooting
 • Receives the snapshot that was just recorded with the camera. Movies and CS images cannot be sent.
 • If Program Auto High Speed CS is selected as therecording mode, you can configure the CS settings below.
   High Speed CS fps, Maximum CS Shots, Prerecord CS Shots

IMPORTANT!
 • Auto Power Off is disabled while a “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” operation is in progress.
   Take care to make sure the battery is sufficiently charged.
 • Though the camera's monitor screen will go blank a short while after you start a “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” operation, the “Remote Capture (Shoot with phone)” operation continues.
 • Note that the LED flash operation for the Self-time countdown operation cannot be disabled.
 • Simultaneous Remote Capture with the same camera by multiple smartphones is not supported.
 • Simultaneous Remote Capture with multiple cameras operated by the same smartphone is not supported.
