What can I do with the "Time Lapse"?

You can use this function to record movies of natural events that occur over time, to speed up the flow of traffic in a city scene, or to record other similar types of movies.

Note the following important points when using Time Lapse.
 • When using this function, shooting with a tripod is recommended.
 • To prevent loss of power while shooting, use a fully charged battery.
   Shooting will stop automatically when battery power goes low, but what you recorded up to that point will be saved.
 • Make sure the memory card you are using has sufficient unused space before shooting with this function.

Procedure
1. In the REC mode, press [MODE].
2. Use the <up>, <down>, <left>, and <right> keys to select “TL” (Time Lapse).
3. Press [SET].
4. Use up/down keys to select "TL" on the Control Panel and then press [SET].
5. Select the scene you want to use and then press [SET].
6. Press [SET], select "Time Lapse Settings", and then press [SET].
7. Use up/down keys to select "Interval" or "Total Time", and then use right/left keys to specify a value.
Each scene is initially configured with unique "Interval" and "Total Time" default settings suitable for that scene. You can change these settings, if you want.

Interval Specifies the number of seconds between shots.
Total Time Specifies the recording time. Selecting "Off" causes recording to continue until the shutter button is pressed again.
8. Press [SET].
 • Time Lapse setting are shown at the bottom of the screen.
9. Press the shutter button to start recording.
 • Shooting is repeated at the interval specified in step 7.
 • Recording stops when the recording time specified in step 7 elapses or when the shutter button is pressed again.

NOTE
• If sleep is enabled, the monitor screen will turn off after the preset sleep period if no camera operation is performed, but the time lapse recording operation will continue. The camera's back lamp will flash at this time.
  However, the following operations will not turn the monitor screen back on.
  – Pressing [ON/OFF] (Power)
  – Pressing the shutter button all the way

• Focus is fixed at the setting where it is when shooting starts. In the case of the Time Lapse scenes below, focus is fixed at infinity (∞).

• Zoom is fixed at the setting where it is when shooting starts. Zoom is enabled before you start shooting.

• In the case of the Time Lapse scenes below, exposure and white balance settings are fixed at where they are when shooting starts.
    Exposure : Clouds, Night Scene
    White Balance: Clouds
* Shutter speed is not adjusted automatically when Night Scene is selected as the Time Lapse scene.
Before starting to shoot with this Time Lapse scene, use the Control Panel to adjust the shutter speed (0.8 to 1/10000 seconds) in accordance with current shooting conditions.
• The following functions cannot be used with this function.
   Single SR Zoom,  Anti-Shake Functions, Lighting, Continuous AF, Triple Self-timer,
   Motion Shutter, Face Detection, Metering, ISO, ISO High Limit, Make-up
• When shooting with Time Lapse, the frame rate becomes 20 fps. The playback frame rate depends on the Time Lapse scene.
• Movie quality depends on the scene you are using.
   Scene 1 to 6 : FHD
   Scene 7 to 11: HD
• Note that audio is not recorded when recording with this function.
• The camera can be configured to play only Time Lapse movies during a slideshow.
• When using "HDR Art" for movie recording, the intensity of the art effect is fixed in accordance with movie settings.
• The maximum file size for a single recording operation is 4G.
