When things don't go right...

Q25
Images I shoot are out of focus.
A25
1) Is Auto Focus selected for the focus setting?
If not, change the focus setting is Auto Focus. Half-press the shutter to focus automatically.

   Procedure
REC mode * [SET] Focus AF
   * If the Make-up Mode or Face Detection setting is On, change it to Off.

2) Even if you are using Auto Focus, the types of subjects described below can cause focusing problems.
In such cases, the focus frame on the monitor screen will be red when you half-press the shutter button.
If this happens, try changing the shooting distance (between the camera and subject) and/or zoom factor, or try using manual focus.
    - Solid color wall or other very low contrast subject
    - Strongly back lit subject
    - Very shiny subject
    - Blinds or other subject with a repeating horizontal pattern
    - Multiple subjects at varying distances from the camera
    - Subject in a dark location
    - Camera movement while shooting
    - Fast-moving subject
    - Subjects outside the focus range of the camera

To switch to Manual Focus (MF)
   REC mode* [SET] Focus MF
   * If the Make-up Mode or Face Detection setting is On, change it to Off.

3) Is the lens dirty?
If the lens is dirty, clean it using a blower to blow off dust or foreign matter, and then wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

    NOTE
Never touch the lens or flash window with your fingers. Finger smudges, dirt, and other foreign matter on the lens or flash window can interfere with proper operation of the camera. Use a blower or other means to keep the lens and flash window free of dirt and dust, and wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.

4) Is there camera movement while you are shooting?
Turn on the camera's anti-shake setting or mount the camera on a tripod.

   Procedure
REC mode [MENU] REC MENU Tab Anti-Shake Functions "Standard" or "Strong" [SET]

   NOTE
   •  When "Program Auto", "Premium Auto PRO" or "High Speed Anti Shake" is selected as the recording mode, "Standard" or "Strong" can be selected for the "Anti-Shake Functions" setting.
The "Strong" setting minimizes the effects of camera and subject movement, but it also results in more digital noise in the image.

5) Proper focusing is not possible outside the focus range. Shoot within the allowable range.
    Shoot within the allowable range.

6) You can focus during FHD, HD, and STD movie recording by pressing [SET].

7) During High Speed Movie recording, focus is fixed at the position where it was when recording started.
To focus an image, half-press the shutter button for Auto Focus or focus manually before you press [Movie] button to start recording.

8) This problem can occur after the camera has been subjected to strong impact. In rare cases, it could mean that the lens is misaligned. Try turning the camera off and then back on again.

If this does not correct the problem, contact your local Authorized CASIO Service Center.
