When things don't go right...

Q32
There is digital noise in images.
A32
1)Sensitivity may have been increased automatically for a dark subject, which increases the chance of digital noise. If this is the cause of the problem, the following may help to improve the image.

  • Use a commercially available light or some other means to illuminate the subject.
  • Use as small an ISO sensitivity setting as possible.
    - It is a good idea to use a tripod to avoid image blur.
    - Subject movement can cause image blur.
  • Turn off the Lighting function.
    Procedure
REC mode [MENU]  REC MENU Tab  Lighting Off[SET]

2)You may be attempting to shoot in a dark location with Flash Off selected, which can increase digital noise and make images appear coarse. In this case, turn on flash or use lights for illumination.

3)Shooting with a high ISO sensitivity setting or with the Lighting feature can cause an increase in digital noise. Use a commercially available light or some other means to illuminate the subject.

4)Shooting movies for long periods in areas where temperature is relatively high can cause digital noise (dots of light) to appear in the movie image. If this happens, move to a cooler environment or turn off the camera and allow it to cool down, which should cause normal operation to resume.
