Snap shot

Q10
What is the difference between "HS Night Shot", "HS Night Scene", and the "Night Scene" of previous models?
A10
"HS Night Scene" detects whether or not the camera is mounted on a tripod and automatically sets up the camera for optimum night scene shooting. It automatically shoots using continuous shutter (CS) when it judges the camera is hand-held, and combines the results into a final image with minimal blur. If HS Night Scene determines that the camera is mounted on a tripod, it uses a longer exposure time to shoot a single image.
However, if surroundings are extremely dark, the camera may not be able to shoot at proper brightness due to insufficient exposure. In such cases, use of "HS Night Shot" is recommended.

With "HS Night Shot", the camera shoots a greater number of images than "HS Nigh Scene" and then merges them into a final image. The result is a bright image, even if shot in the dark without a flash.
When shooting with "HS Night Shot", the maximum shutter speed is 1/4-second and maximum ISO sensitivity is 25600.
However, compared to "HS Night Scene", "HS Night Shot" is prone to generation of digital noise. Also, the maximum image size possible with "HS Night Shot" is 10M.

NOTE
 • Take care to avoid camera movement and subject movement as you shoot.
