Snap shot

Q20
What recording functions can be assigned to the front shutter button?
A20
The settings shown in the table below can be assigned to the front shutter button for execution when the front shutter is pressed in the REC mode.

Setting Description (When front shutter button is pressed)
Standard
Normal recording using the current camera setup.
AF less
Half-pressing the front shutter button immediately shoots a snapshot without adjusting focus, so there is less time lag between shutter button operation and shooting than there is when using the top shutter button. If you want to focus (with AF) before shooting, half-press the top shutter button to focus. Next, press the front shutter button to shoot.
This front shutter operation can be used for shooting single snapshots only.
Selfie Timer Shoots a single snapshot when the end of the countdown is reached.
x3 Selfie Timer Shoots a total of three images at two-second intervals when the end of the countdown is reached.
CS Recording of a series of up to 10 images at 10 fps. This function can be used only when the recording mode is Program Auto and the “CS” menu item setting is “Off”.
Off No recording.

NOTE
• Front shutter button operation will become disabled while shooting with some BEST SHOT scenes.
• When the “Front Shutter” setting is something other than “Off”, the front shutter button can be used to shoot a snapshot while movie recording is in progress (Snapshot In Movie), In this case, however, only a single snapshot can be recorded. You cannot shoot a Continuous Shutter (CS) image during movie recording.
