Connection Issue with CASIO PC Applications on Windows® 11

Issue Summary

CASIO PC applications may fail to recognize compatible musical instruments when connected to computers running Windows® 11 with specific updates installed.

  • Windows 11, version 25H2
 

Symptoms

Users may experience the following:
  • CASIO musical instruments are not detected by CASIO PC applications when connected via USB
  • Device Manager correctly displays "CASIO USB-MIDI" as a connected device, but the application fails to establish communication
 

Cause

This issue is caused by Windows 11 update KB5077181 (released February 2026), which introduced the new Windows MIDI Services. This update creates compatibility issues with applications that depend on the legacy MIDI infrastructure.
 

Affected Configurations

This issue affects systems meeting all of the following criteria:
✓ Windows 11 version 24H2 or 25H2
✓ Update KB5077181 installed
✓ Using one of the affected CASIO PC applications listed above

How to Check Your System
  • To verify your Windows version:
  1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings
  2. Navigate to System > About
  3. Under Windows specifications, check:
    • Edition: Windows 11
    • Version: 24H2 or 25H2
  • To check for installed updates:
  1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings
  2. Select Windows Update
  3. Click Update history
  4. Under Quality updates, look for KB5077181

Recommended  Action

  • Please use PCs that do not have the update "KB5077181" installed.
