When things don't go right...

Q25
There is digital noise in images.
A25
1) Sensitivity may have been increased automatically for a dark subject, which increases
the chance of digital noise. If this is the cause of the problem, the following may help to
    improve the image.

  • Use a light or some other means to illuminate the subject.
  • Change the sensitivity setting to ISO64.
    Procedure
REC mode  [SET]  "MENU" [SET]  Quality Tab ISO ISO64
    - It is a good idea to use a tripod to avoid image blur.
    - Subject movement can cause image blur.
  • Turn off the Lighting function.
    Procedure
REC mode [SET]  "MENU" [SET] Quality Tab  "Lighting" Off

2) You may be attempting to shoot in a dark location with Flash Off selected, which can
increase digital noise and make images appear coarse. In this case, turn on flash or
    use lights for illumination.

3) Shooting with a high ISO sensitivity setting or with the Lighting feature can cause an
increase in digital noise. Use a light or some other means to illuminate the subject.
