Power Requirements

Q1
Is charging performed during USB data communication with the computer?
A1
Yes. While the camera is connected to a computer's USB port with the USB cable, charging continues even when the camera is turned on and performing data communication with the computer. Note, however, that operation of the back lamp changes as described below when charging while performing USB data communication.
Lamp Status Description
Lit Amber *1 Charging
Lit Red Charging in progress (Data transfer with computer not supported.)
Flashing Red Abnormal ambient temperature, battery problem, or charging terminated by the timer
Lit Green Charging complete, or Charging stopped
*1 When charging with power supplied from a computer's USB port, turning on the camera while the
indicator is lit red will cause it to change to orange, which indicates USB data communication.

NOTE
 • A battery that has not been used for a long time, certain types of computers, and certain connection
conditions can cause charging to take longer than normal. If charging takes longer than about six
hours, a timer will terminate it automatically, even if the battery is not fully charged.
If this happens, disconnect the USB cable from the camera and then reconnect it to restart charging.
For faster charging, use of the USB-AC adaptor that comes with the camera is recommended.
