How do I use the A, S, and M modes that are shown on the mode dial?

The following procedures explain how to use each mode.


A A(Aperture Priority) mode
In this mode, you select the aperture and other settings are adjusted accordingly.
 1. Press [SET] to open the control panel.
 2. Use the <up> and <down> keys to select the aperture icon.
 3. Use the <left> and <right> keys to change the aperture setting.
 • You also can select the EV shift setting located under the aperture setting and then specify an exposure
   value (EV shift), if you want.


S S(Shutter Speed Priority) mode
In this mode, you select the shutter speed and other settings are adjusted accordingly.
 1. Press [SET] to open the control panel.
 2. Use the <up> and <down> keys to select the shutter speed icon.
 3. Use  the <left> and <right> keys to change the shutter speed setting.
 • You also can select the EV shift setting located under the shutter speed setting and then specify an
   exposure value (EV shift), if you want.
 • In the S mode, ISO sensitivity always operates according to its  "AUTO" setting. The ISO sensitivity setting
   cannot be changed while in the S mode.

M M(Manual Exposure) mode
This mode gives you total control over aperture and shutter speed settings.
 1. Press [SET] to open the control panel.
 2. Use the <up> and <down> keys to select the aperture icon.
 3. Use the <left> and <right> keys to change the aperture setting.
 4. Use the <up> and <down> keys to select the shutter speed icon.
 5. Use the <left> and <right> keys to change the shutter speed setting.
 6. Use the <up> and <down> keys to select the ISO Sensitivity icon.
 7. Use the <left> and <right> keys to change the ISO sensitivity setting.
 • "AUTO" cannot be selected for the "ISO Sensitivity" setting while M is selected for the recording mode.

IMPORTANT!
 • You may not be able to achieve the brightness you want when shooting an image that is very dark or very
   bright.
 • The displayed ISO sensitivity, shutter speed or aperture value will turn orange when you half-press the
   shutter button if the image is overexposed or underexposed.
 • While A, S, or M is selected for the recording mode, the flash will not fire if "Auto Flash" or "Red Eye
   Reduction" is selected as the flash mode. If you want the flash to fire, select "Flash On" as the flash mode.
