REC Mode/Recording Techniques

Q46
Why does a "Recognition failed! Secure the camera when shooting." error appear when I try to use Multi-motion?
A46
When using Multi-motion, the error message "Recognition failed! Secure the camera when shooting." will appear if you move the camera while shooting, if you release the shutter button before shooting is complete, or if there is no distinctive pattern in the background of the shot.
When shooting with Multi-motion, you need to keep the camera still and you must keep the shutter button depressed until at least six consecutive shutter (CS) images are shot. If you still get an error, try shooting against another type of background.

Note the following points whenever shooting with Multi-motion.
Choose a shooting angle so the colors, shapes, and patterns of the moving subject and the background are as different as possible.
Avoid a shooting angle where the area behind the subject is monotone or a simple pattern (such as cloudless blue sky).
The camera may not be able to compose the final image if the intervals between movements are so narrow the subject shots overlap.
