Q28 When shooting indoors under fluorescent lighting, why do areas of the image where the flash does not reach appear greenish?
A28 The camera always uses the sunlight white balance setting for flash photography, because flash has the same tints as sunlight. In a room that is brightly lit by fluorescent lighting, areas that are not reached by the flash tend to appear green, due to the characteristics of fluorescent light. Use of the AUTO flash setting is recommended when shooting in a brightly lit room where conditions to not require forced firing of the flash.
