Q16 What is the difference between optical zoom and digital zoom?
A16 Initially, a zoom operation performs optical zoom in the range of 1X to 3X. After optical zoom reaches its maximum telephoto setting, the zoom operation switches over to digital zoom in the range of 12X to 45.2X. Optical zoom is performed by changing the focal distance, which means that resolution is not affected. Digital zoom, on the other hand digitally enlarges the center portion of the screen, which means resolution becomes coarser as the zoom factor increases.
