Recording Function and Performance

| Q13 |
Is the effective number of pixels value the same as the number of pixels used for actual image recording? |
|
| A13 |
No. The effective number of pixels for this camera is 2.02 million, while number of pixels actually used for recording is 1600 x 1200 = 1.92 million. The reason for this difference is that the number of pixels actually used for recording does not include the pixels around the outer edges of the CCD. Each pixel of the CCD consists of only R, G, or B color data, and the data of neighboring pixels is used in order to generate color and luminance information. Since pixels around the periphery do not contain neighboring pixel data, they are excluded form the image that is actually recorded. |
