What is the difference between optical zoom and digital zoom? |
|
| A10 |
Initially, a zoom operation performs optical zoom in the range of 1X to 3X. If you want a zoom factor that is greater than 3X, you can use optical zoom in combination with digital zoom for a range of 12X to 45X.
Digital zoom is divided between two zones: a zone in which there is no coarsening of the image (HD Zoom) and a zone in which digital zoom causes coarsening of the image. The zoom operation will pause at the point where zoom crosses over from the HD Zoom zone and enters the zone in which coarsening of the image occurs. Remember that zooming past this point will cause deterioration of image quality. |
